Counterfeit Popsicle Stick Gang | Busted in Turkey

Thousands of fake popsicle sticks with a “free” mark on them were seized along with the machines used in production.

Two suspects were detained June 27 in Istanbul for allegedly producing fake popsicle sticks that can be used to claim free ice cream bars from vendors.

Istanbul police raided an office building in the Sultangazi district following complaints by an ice cream firm that they had received back more popsicle sticks than they originally pro-duced.

Thousands of fake popsicle sticks with a “free” mark on them were seized along with the machines used in production. Suspects Ahmet A., 35, and Cem S., 27, were sent to court in connection with the case.

The suspects are accused of collectively exchanging the fake popsicle sticks in some markets and selling ice cream to other markets at half-price. It was revealed that the popsicle stick ring had been producing and distributing fake sticks on the market for three years.

Cappadocia- Nevsehir - Avanos- Zelve -Anatolia, Turkey

Photo's belong to me-Lynn

The surrealistic geological formation of Cappadocia is one of the wonders of the world. It is the result of the natural forces during the intense volcanic activity.

In addition to the European Alps, the Taurus Mountains of southern Anatolia were formed during the Tertiary period of geological development (65 million to 2 million years ago). During the "Alpine period" of mountain-building, deep fissures and large depressed areas were created. The fracturing process allowed the subsurface magma (rocks in their molten state) to find its way to the surface where it formed the Erciyes, Develi, Melendiz, Kegiboydoran, and Hasan Dag cones.

After numerous eruptions these cones increased in size and formed a chain of volcanoes running parallel to the Taurus Mountains. Also the volcanic material slowly ran towards the depressed areas and covered the previously formed hills and valleys. This geological activity changed the general landscape of the region, giving it the appearance of a plateau.

Wind, climate, mechanical weathering, rain, snow, and rivers caused the erosion giving to Cappadocia its unusual and characteristic rock formations. Rain and rivers also formed valleys such as Zelve and Goreme.

There is much more History than I could ever write, or tell you about.
Traveling to Turkiye each year has been a totally awesome experience.

Will post more photos and give you Links. Thanks for your interest.

Turkey's Bosphorus Sub-Sea Tunnel Links Europe and Asia

The Marmaray tunnel is the world's first connecting two continents, and is designed to withstand earthquakes.

It was inaugurated on the 90th anniversary of the Republic of Turkey.

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has for years championed the undersea engineering project, first conceived by an Ottoman sultan in 1860.

Work began in 2004, but archaeological excavations delayed construction.

The underwater section runs for 0.8 miles (1.4 km), but in total the tunnel is 8.5 miles (13.6 km) long.

Turkish Ramazan Pide Bread

Tomorrow I make my own Turkish-Ramazan Pide style bread

This photo: Credit Turkey's for Life

I have no recipe, I have just my instincts. That's what I do, when I feel like creating I just make sure I have basics in kitchen, and I just start creating. I have been making pide style bread for only a few years. The first time..well.....lets just say it was eatable. But every few years I re-create it.
Just want to say how simply tasteful this bread is. I could eat it all day long. I let you know how it goes. Wish me luck.

Balconies BALKON or Patio's in Turkiye

Spending time with friends and family is a daily love of Turkiye.
Must keep in stock teas and tea glasses, and cookies.

Here are some of the balconies in Turkiye.

It is also one of my passions. Though a couple of years ago, or last year,
I went to Colorado, and Vegas on a whim. I totally was coming back in a few days
and ended up taking my time. I was very sadden that most of all my plants had died.
I cried for days. I ended up redoing the balcony with artificial plants.
It may not be the same as having fresh, but I know when I leave next time,
I won't have to worry about my plants dying. Actually only one desert plant survived.

Thank you for sharing your balcony.

Myra’s Famous Rock-cut Tombs-Demre Turkiye

St.Nicholas was born in nearby Patara, became a priest, rose to the rank of bishop, and did much of his good work here in the Roman town then called Myra, a name derived from myrrh.
Demre is a town and its surrounding district in the Antalya Province on the Mediterranean coast of Turkey, named after the river Demre. Demre is the Lycian town of Myra, the home of Saint Nicholas of Myra, the original Santa Claus.

Myra’s famous rock-cut tombs

Also this same place and area was where St. Paul (St. Paul which I find so intriguing), changed ships at Myra's port on his way to his trial in Rome, in about 60 AD, after he had been arrested in Jerusalem after being charged with inciting to riot.

Mediterranean Blue Crab

Mediterranean Blue Crabs-Turkiye

Traveling to South Turkiye
Beautiful historic country of Turkiye (Turkey) with its history comes food and its people.

Prior to arriving to Demre, had to stop and have the famous Mediterranean (turkish) blue crab. The restaurant is built right along and over the edge of the Mediterranean Sea. It is open air and I sat right next to the waters and I could see fish in the water.
I for one had never even seen a blue crab, so the owner let me see it before it was cooked. I don't remember the fish I had along with the blue crab, but I never tasted such good grill fish.
What I do know there are five species of crab that are highly valued and economically profitable found in Turkish Mediterranean waters. From May to July, the Mediterranean blue crabs spawn.
