The surrealistic geological formation of Cappadocia is one of the wonders of the world. It is the result of the natural forces during the intense volcanic activity.

In addition to the European Alps, the Taurus Mountains of southern Anatolia were formed during the Tertiary period of geological development (65 million to 2 million years ago). During the "Alpine period" of mountain-building, deep fissures and large depressed areas were created. The fracturing process allowed the subsurface magma (rocks in their molten state) to find its way to the surface where it formed the Erciyes, Develi, Melendiz, Kegiboydoran, and Hasan Dag cones.

After numerous eruptions these cones increased in size and formed a chain of volcanoes running parallel to the Taurus Mountains. Also the volcanic material slowly ran towards the depressed areas and covered the previously formed hills and valleys. This geological activity changed the general landscape of the region, giving it the appearance of a plateau.

Wind, climate, mechanical weathering, rain, snow, and rivers caused the erosion giving to Cappadocia its unusual and characteristic rock formations. Rain and rivers also formed valleys such as Zelve and Goreme.

Today in the Anatolian region of Turkey, Md.Ameenuddin Obaid has ordered the Adana Kebab or Kofte.
To remember his moment of inspiration, he photographs his dinner of kebabs.
To look at the photo is like sitting across from him, and enjoying this delicious meal of centuries ago.
An infusion of hot spices and sweet tasty lamb, that inspires the soul.

Authentic origin of the Adana Kebab is from eastern Anatolia.
Spicey ground lamb that is grilled with big vegetables like tomatoes, peppers, and onions.
Its been said that in the times of Marco Polo on the Silk Road route, that Asiatic spices was most popular with the Venetians. 
Eastern Anatolia enjoyed more spicey foods.
 May be where they got their interest in hotter spices during this medival time. 
The port nearby Ayas was the place where trades of spices and wares occured.  


The region has been inhabited since prehistoric times, and some of the remnants of the Hittite, Phrygian, and Greek periods are still visible. 
The town was settled by Oghuz tribes in the eleventh century, and later it came under Byzantine rule. 
In the 16th century, Sanjak Turks came into the area, and eventually it became a part of the Ottoman Empire.
